Friday January 15

Here we are only 15 days into the new year and so much has happened. You are all aware of the earthquake in Haiti and the devastation to the country and it’s people. As I watch the news coverage I continue to pray for all those involved.

As always the United States comes to the aid of the country supplying Soldiers and U.S. Military help and aid to the survivors. But time is running out and the death toll is rising each hour.
Access to the people is difficult. Roads are in poor condition and Haiti’s major air port has only one working runway.

The first wave of soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division landed in Haiti Friday morning.
The U.S.S. Carl Vinson also arrived in Haiti equipped with 19 helicopters, 3 operating rooms, and can produce fresh water. The USS Carl Vinson will be used as an offshore staging base for helicopters and other capacities to try and move relief goods from ships to shore. Close to 10,000 military personnel should be on the ground by Monday.

Our prayers are with all of the survivors and those providing rescue and aid to the Haitians.
